The state of New Mexico offers a great opportunity to enjoy outdoor adventures.

The limitless activities include Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Hiking and various water sports.
Its borders include Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Mexico. The varying terrain ranges from High Mountains to desert areas. The state is also high in Indian folklore and has a number if Indian reservations including Navajo and Apache Indians. It also housed the White Sands Missile Range. The state offers a multitude of opportunities for Big Game hunting. It has produced record book Elk, Rocky Mountain and Desert Big Horn Sheep along with Antelope, Mule Deer, Coues Deer, Bear, Cougar, Ibex, Oryx, Barbary sheep, Javelina and smaller game. Most Big Game licenses are obtained through the lottery system although landowner permits are available from ranchers or through outfitters. There are also hunts offered on Indian reservations lands offered by various tribes.

Upland Bird hunting includes Dove, Pheasant, Quail, Prairie Chicken, Grouse and Band-tailed Pigeon. The Quail species include Scaled, Gambel's Bobwhite and Montezuma. Also there is very good Turkey hunting and the Goulds Turkey population is on the increase. Hunts can be conducted on private and public areas along with hunting preserves.
The state sits in the Central and Pacific flyways and many species of Ducks, Geese along with Sandhill Cranes are hunted on state management units along with National Wildlife Reserves.
The varied lands of the state offer many different opportunities for fishing. The many reservoirs, lakes, rivers and streams offer trout, bass, walleye, panfish, 3 species of catfish, kokanee salmon are just some that can be fished for. Don't count this state out if you are looking for some good fishing!
