The state of Utah offers a variety of outdoor activities. Fishing and hunting are high on the list; but white water rafting, biking, hiking, pack trips, snow skiing and family vacations are also available.

You don't need a guide or lodge for these activities as there are many campgrounds to be found in the many state and national parks but there are also many experienced guides and lodges to make your trip help enjoyable.
Elk, Mule Deer and Antelope are the most common animal hunted in Utah, although Moose, Sheep, Goat, Lion and Bear are also available. The nations only Free Ranging Buffalo herd reside in the Henry Mountains located in the southern portion of the state. Managed by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources the state has become a Mecca for trophy animals. Although many hunts require an application in the lottery system, there are also general hunt permits available along with permits provided to landowners. The Wildlife Management program allows for hunting on various ranches throughout the state and normally these hunt for Deer and Elk are offered by licensed guides. The state also provides permits for purchase through auctions at various hunting conservation banquets including Rocky Mountain Elk Association, Mule Deer Association and SCI. Conservation permits are tax deductible and cherished by many hunters wanting a trophy animal.

One might not consider it as a state for bird hunting but Utah offers opportunities for Ducks and Geese, Dove, Pheasant, Grouse, Chukar and Wild Turkey in many areas of the state. Guided or unguided hunting can be found on many open areas of low land agricultural areas to the mountains throughout the state. Waterfowl are found along the rivers and wetlands including areas around Salt Lake.
Mountain ranges in Utah provide excellent stream and lake fishing. The state is becoming a first-class fly fishing. The wide variety of species include lake Trout, Muskie, Walleye and an overabundance of Striped Bass to name a few.
